 The Intertribal Information Technology Company (IITC) is is a SBA 8(a) certified consortium of 2 Alaska Native, 1 Hawaiian Native, and 7 Native American Information Technology firms that specialize in data conversion and data management. Their mission is to create jobs and foster economic development by providing quality products and services that are second to none. They are joined in partnership with non-Native private sector vendors who have extensive experience in the IT business; they serve as mentors and join us in our mission of being not only economic, but also social entrepreneurs.
Their logo depicts a white buffalo, viewed by many Native Americans as an omen of positive change to come. To IITC, information technology (IT) has been their white buffalo bringing with it positive economic change to Reservation, Village and Homestead communities.
History of IITC
IITC was born out of the Inter-Tribal Economic Alliance (ITEA), a non-profit corporation supporting business development in Native American Communities. In 2002, ten tribal firms under the umbrella of the ITEA, began discussions with the Department of Defense (DOD) about the possibility of a contract out of the funding for the FY 03 Defense Appropriations Act. These discussions ultimately lead to a congressional provision of $34 million for a contract to a consortium of information technology firms owned by Tribes, Alaska Native Corporations and Native Hawaiian Organizations for digitizing of DOD technical manuals.
